My DNA Reporting System is like a genetic code for writing defensible and accurate narrative reports with built-in risk management objectives.  I highly promote and endorse the use of a narrative report as the best means of transferring intellectual knowledge to the client, and as the most defensible report writing format in the event of a claim. 

    The basis of this narrative report writing format is:

•     Observation - state what you see in words.  Paint an objective and unbiased photograph.

•     Analysis - state your opinion about what your see.  Does it need repair, replacement, etc.

•     Recommendation - give your client direction.

I am a secondary vendor for 3D Inspection. I retail two products on CD's that are compatible with their Report Writer Software and produce a comprehensive narrative report:

1. Bob's Inspection Forms (A 14-section topical set of forms by system for writing narrative reports)

2. Encyclopedia of Standard Paragraphs (a large 6 MB data base of boiler-plated text that can be imported into any 3D forms)

The above two CD's can be purchased separately, but when combined they compliment each other and provide a wealth of information available with a click of the mouse for importing into a report and editing as elected or saved for future use.   My spiral bound final narrative report is a marketing tool itself.  Clients show their home inspection report to friends, relatives and other professionals who instantly recognize it's value and make my telephone ring.  The computer and technology are the future for the competitive home inspector.  This system has worked for me over an 25 year period of report writing evolution.  I maintain a file of thank you letters from clients.
